SWF Yachts Announces 2011
Charter and School Specials
“Everything is at least 11 percent less in 2011
and double in the summer”
NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla., August 18, 2010 –
Southwest Florida Yachts announced deep discounts
for 2011 for sail or power yacht charters and for
students taking live-aboard courses at Florida
Sailing & Cruising School.
“Chartering is at least 11-percent less in
twenty-eleven,” said owner-manager Barb Hansen,
announcing that all charters of three days or more
in 2011 will receive an 11-percent discount in the
nine prime-weather cruising months – January,
February, March, April, May, June, October,
November and December.
The discount doubles to 22 percent in the warmer
months -- July, August and September.
“Our motto is ‘See the USA – Charter our Way,’ ”
said Hansen, whose yacht chartering company will
celebrate anniversary 27 in 2011. “And for the
record, the only oil in our cruising area is
what’s in our engines.”
Southwest Florida Yachts charters power yachts
from 28 to 43 feet and sailing yachts from 29 to
42 feet long for cruising and sailing the
nearshore Gulf of Mexico and the inland waters
between the Florida barrier islands of
Sanibel/Captiva and the village of Punta Gorda on
Charlotte Harbor.
Applying the 11 percent discount to a three-day
charter aboard SWFY’s twin-engine Grand Banks 36
saves $283, reducing the cost of the three-day
high-season charter to only $2,297. In the summer,
the 22-percent discount on a three-day charter
equals a substantial $454 and brings down the
charter cost from the low season rate of $2,063 to
only $1,609.
Yacht School Discounts
Hansen said discounts also go into effect for
students taking liveaboard power and sailing
courses in 2011 at Florida Sailing and Cruising
School. Yacht courses, for up to four students at
a time, will be discounted by 11 percent for the
first two students all year long. Third and fourth
students may take the same course with a 50
percent discount.
Florida Sailing & Cruising School is a unique
liveaboard yacht school – power or sail -- for up
to four students at time. Without the discount,
power course tuitions range from $995 up to $3,495
for an eight-day offshore expedition.
Sailing school tuitions, also before discounts,
range from $595 per person for a two-day course up
to $3,195 for a 12-day offshore adventure. That
includes the cabin, the instructor, the course
materials and the vessel’s fuel. Non-students
accompanying students can stay on the vessel for
half-price. All the students have to do is buy
their food and step aboard for a great learning
experience afloat.
Courses in powerboat safety, handling and cruising
are held at company headquarters at Marinatown
Marina on the Caloosahatchee in N. Fort Myers just
across the Caloosahatchee from the city of Fort
Myers. Sailing courses are held at sailing fleet
headquarters—Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda.
Since 1985 Florida Sailing and Cruising School has
been certified as an approved teaching facility by
the American Sailing Association (ASA).
