Taking a Boating Course from our Marinatown Base in North Fort Myers:  If you do not want to rent a car, you can use Callahan’s Service as outlined above.  However, during your P101 course, you will be coming back to the dock for three nights.  You might consider having a car at your disposal in case you choose to go shopping, out to dinner, or need to do additional provisioning.
 

Chartering or taking a class at our Burnt Store Marina Base on Charlotte Harbor:  Burnt Store Marina is approximately 35 miles from the airport.  The Marina is about halfway between Fort Myers and Punta Gorda, Florida.  Therefore, renting a car to have at your disposal is probably the best bet for the average 3-7 day charter or class.  For longer vacations, using the limo service may be a less expensive option.  For provisioning trips from Burnt Store you may call J&R Transportation at   941-639-0052.  They are located near the marina and their rate is $20 per hour with a 1 hour minimum. $65 to/from the airport and $20 per hour wait time for shopping, etc.
 

CALLAHAN'S AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION
Callahan’s will pick you up at the airport and take you and your crew to either of our charter bases.  We recommend Callahan’s if you do not want to rent a car.  All of the transportation services at our local airport are regulated and, therefore, the rates are the same. Your Callahan’s driver will know right where to take you. Reservations are required in advance.

HERTZ LOCAL CAR RENTAL

Hertz Car Rental has an office in downtown Fort Myers.  If you choose to rent a car at the airport to bring all of your gear to the boat and then do your grocery shopping, you can leave the car at the marina and a Hertz employee will pick up the car when you no longer need it.  Arrangements can be made, also, to have a car ready for you on your return to the airport.
